Arbor Day, 2023

This pavilion will be the gateway to the Arboretum, both for self-guided visits and for planned events.

An Interpretive Trail

Approximately 10 Special Growing Areas (micro-climates) have been identified throughout Starin Park; and, over time, each of these Areas will be planted with native trees and shrubs that can thrive in each unique location. This will give visitors to the AASP the chance to observe and learn about a great variety of plants and their environments. Visitors can then make informed choices when planting their own yards and gardens.

The first three Special Growing Areas planned for development are the Food Forest, the Playground Woodland, and the Shelter Circle.

AASP Project Updates

• The AASP has hired landscape architect Danielle Bell, owner of Native Roots Landscape Design, to begin design work on three initial areas of the Arboretum.

• The 2023 AASP Annual Tree Sale was held on Arbor Day, April 28. Almost 200 native trees sold in one day!

• The 2022 AASP Annual Tree Sale was held the last two weekends of April:
— Earth Day, April 22 and Saturday, April 23
— Arbor Day, April 29 and Saturday, April 30
A great selection of native trees and shrubs were available at excellent prices, and the selection quickly sold out.
